I’ve been sick since Thursday, so instead of Guitars and Sunflowers, Part Two, or some big, rambly, philosophical post about creativity, I’m posting the photos I promised of (some of) the finished floor at the renovation job I’m on. This is the flooring I am hoping to put in the Treehouse sometime this year. (It’s going in, I’m just not sure when yet!)
My co-worker and I got this basement room done today:

This is the Allure floating vinyl tile I mentioned in my previous post about the floor. It’s not quite as simple as the 12×12″ tiles I put in my kitchen. These ones come in sections of 3 tiles. So that’s 12×36″, right? Wait, there’s more. What makes this flooring “float” are the interlocking glue strips on two sides of each piece. That brings it to 13×37″. So as a section of the floor, each section is 12×36″, but as a piece of flooring to be measured and cut, it’s 13X37″.
Put it this way: the math needs to be done before you cut!

Baseboards will be put up around the edges of the room. Those will be sealed with caulking, and the floor will be very durable for years to come.
I think this is going to look fantastic in the Treehouse! I’ve taken some leftover scraps home and tried it in every room. It looks gorgeous. My fingers are already itching to tear the carpet out!

This is the blood sacrifice I made to this rental unit. Yeah, every home has one somewhere. Those of you who built or renovated your own homes know what I’m talking about.

Mine was pretty miniscule (I sliced myself with a utility knife), though I wasn’t the only one to make a blood sacrifice to the unit today. Knowing me, it won’t be the last one before we are done, either.

I also got a few photos of the work we were doing last week, right before I got sick. I made a few blood sacrifices to the garden as well. I’ve gotten used to keeping band-aids in my wallet.

Time to get all the weeds and dead things out of your garden beds, if you haven’t already!
Those are irises coming up, so bright and green. In other beds around this property, the irises are overtaking the beds and will need to be divided next time we work out there. If it’s not done, the spreading iris plants will start to crack the pavement.
